PS. Made a quick and dirty update to my old template as well to get it working with the new version. Some features are missing, but I'll concentrate on those when I have more time.

Updated the AddThis social sharing tool to the latest version. Otherwise the sharing tool works the same way as before, but the new version enables users to share directly to Facebook or Twitter without even leaving the site if they have linked their social accounts with AddThis.

Decided to remove the guestbook from this site. This was due to two things:

1. It became obsolete with no real visitors posting in it.
2. Lately it started receiving lots of spam posts.

After reading the Simplify the Internet post by Leo Babauta I gave it some thought and decided to simplify my social networks. Just removed my accounts on Pinterest and Tumblr. I've already removed quite a few people/pages I used to follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (still have accounts on those as well as on Google+). These were the first steps, let's see what I come up with next to simplify my life...

So... The World didn't end two days ago and now I would like to take this opportunity to wish Merry Christmas to all the people who have visited antman.info in the past years and also to those who are coming to visit this site in the future. I'm signing off now for a few days, going countryside to spend the Christmas with my family.

Just made some minor changes to the Open Graph protocol metadata used on antman.info website. This isn't visible to end users in any way unless you share something to Facebook for example. In case you are not familiar with Open Graph protocol, it simply enables any web page to become a rich object in a social graph. For instance, it is used on Facebook to allow any web page to have the same functionality as any other object on Facebook.

Updated jQuery JavaScript library from version 1.8.0 to version 1.8.3. The library is used in the menu of the site and in the photo galleries.

Just added two new jokes to the jokes section of the site, one in Finnish and one in English. Thanks to Alice and Lucian for these sumbissions:

Today, October 26 2012 thousands of websites will close their doors on Internet Explorer below version 9. I decided to join the movement and from now on antman.info has gone dark for IE. The plan is simply to rid the world of older versions of IE. They don't understand modern technologies, lack features, they're buggy, have security holes and prevent you from seeing the web the way it should be seen. Imagine if everyone didn't upgrade their TV or computer? It would mean all the great advancements like HD, DVD's etc would all go to waste. Imagine what you'd be missing out on!

Back at work after a month off and the first feeling I have right now is that WORK SUCKS! Could have stayed on vacation a few more weeks instead of coming back. But what can one do, guess I have to start working again and trying to do something productive for a change. Anyway, waiting for the next vacation (whenever that might be)...

And finally it begins... My summer vacation! I've been waiting for this break for some time now and this blog post is the last thing I do at work before I'm off for four weeks. I'm most probably spending most of my vacation countryside so there probably won't be any updates coming in August on the website. But now I'll sign off with Joe Satriani's Summer Song.

I made a small user script for Greasemonkey that changes a few things in the layout of the Crossfire 4.0 site:

• darker background
• minor tweaking in colors (mostly making it darker)
• changed the font (requested by Clown)
• removed some annoyances

The site was temporarily down for about half a day. First there were some troubles on the server and after those were fixed the service provider had to update their DNS servers, but now everything seems to be working fine.
